How to Make Chai the Traditional Way

Measure the chai mixture for the number of cups you want.

Place the herbs in a teapot. Pour boiling water over (1 cup per person).

Let steep for 15 minutes. Strain.

(Optional) Chill the liquid in the fridge for a few hours for a refreshing cold chai—perfect for elevenses or an after-dinner treat.

Pour the strained chai into a saucepan. Add 1 cup skimmed milk (or soya, rice milk, or creamer) per person.

Heat gently to just below boiling, whisking constantly to create a creamy froth.

Quick Chai Method
If you’re short on time, place half to 1 teaspoon of chai tea in a coffee strainer or cafetière. Add half a cup boiling water and half a cup hot milk. In just a couple of minutes, your chai is ready to enjoy!
