Urginea bulb is a super-interesting herb in herbal medicine! It was even worshipped for its remarkable actions for the heart in old Roman days (clever guys those Roman physician/herbalists!). It is best known for its amazing prevention of heart failure due to its cardiac glycosides. It has an action that is as good as digitalis (foxglove) but it is safer to take. But you must be careful of a sting in its tail – it’s a cathartic (can cause diarrhoea if taken to much). It is included in some of my epic formulations for the heart, notably Heart and Circulation Tonic and Stroke and Heart Attack Prevention Tonic (SHAP). Strong action.
Squill is also useful for chronic cough and asthma. So I have included it in my formulation of CoughLess Tonic, BreathLess Tonic and LungShield COPD Tonic. Strong action.
